Welcome! I am Diane Weeden, Principal of Jennie Reid Elementary. My journey to this point has been an interesting one. At the tender age of 9, I knew that I wanted to become a teacher, so I could help children the way my third grade teacher helped me! I graduation from the High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice in HISD in 1991 and headed to the University of Houston, where I received my Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. I went on to earn my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, with a specialization in Instructional Technology from Houston Baptist University. Next, I earned my Principal Certification through a Program called I Teach Texas. I have been in the education field for 20 years, beginning my career in Pasadena ISD, where I taught for 7 years. In August of 2002, I came to La Porte ISD as an Instructional Technology/Media Specialist, where I enjoyed teaching students and training teachers to use technology at Lomax Elementary for 6 years. After I received my Principal Certification, I landed the position of Assistant Principal at Lomax Elementary in 2011, where I served for 1 year. I spent 2012-2014 as Assistant Principal at College Park Elementary, then moved to Bayshore Elementary to serve as Assistant Principal from 2014-2017. In February of 2017, I was asked to serve as Interim Principal of Jennie Reid Elementary for the remainder of the school year. This is my first "official" year as Principal at Jennie Reid and I am honored to work with an amazing group of teachers, staff, students, and parents!
